My son, Winter, connects with people in his own way.
Sometimes he takes in the world from a distance. Other times, he's right in the thick of it, having the best time of his life. Winter is autistic, and being his dad has opened my eyes to how many different ways there are to communicate, participate, and connect.
He's shown me ways of connecting with folks that I use almost every day. That's where the name Connected Differently comes from—a personal connection to my son and what I continue to learn from him.
Why the puzzle pieces?
Winter loves jigsaw puzzle pieces. Including them in the logo was a way to carry something he enjoys into a name that already means so much to me.
For me, those pieces aren't about something missing or someone needing to be figured out. They're a reference to Winter and something he loves.
This is one part of our story, not an attempt to speak for every autistic person or family. I wanted to share it because there's a real person—and a very personal reason—behind the name.
